Trucos para mejorar la estética de tu Project Life (Parte I)

Este mes tratamos el tema de La Estética en el blog de Project Life Café. Y a mí personalmente me parece un asunto que puede dar mucho de si! Sobre todo, empezando porque para gustos... colores! :D

En principio, hay una serie de "normas" del diseño y teorías del color por las que los trabajos han de regirse para que un conjunto tenga un aspecto más armónico, pero luego llega alguien y rompe algunas de las normas y consigue un resultado espectacular! 

¿Entonces qué? Yo os puedo dar mi opinión personal de lo que me parece que hace que las páginas de Project Life queden mejor, y si te gusta mi estilo, quizás puedes sacar algo útil! :)
Ya comentaba en PLC que desde que empecé con el scrapbooking y me sentí fascinada por este arte, siempre estaba fijándome, analizando y probando los trabajos de las scraperas que más admiraba.
¿Cómo han hecho esto? Cómo han conseguido este efecto? ¿Qué es la teoría del color? ¿ Cuáles son los conceptos básicos del diseño?
Tras analizar mucho, darle vueltas a las cosas y después de práctica, práctica y más práctica poco a poco va despuntando el estilo personal de una misma.

Espero que alguno de estos puntos os descubra una nueva manera de mirar vuestras fotos y tarjetas y os haga el proceso más fácil... Y divertido!

Las fotos son la clave principal de nuestro PL. Eso es indiscutible. Quizás no eres fotógrafa como muchas de nosotras, pero hay trucos para sacar el mejor partido de lo que tienes. Ahí van algunos:

• Combinar fotos donde aparezcan retratos, paisajes, objetos, styling... En mi opinión, las fotos donde aparece gente llenan mucho las páginas. Hace que parezca que pasan muchas cosas concentradas en un sólo sitio y suelen haber muchos colores distintos en poco espacio. Sobre todo, los planos a la cintura, los planos americanos o las fotos de grupo. Las fotos con paisaje calman la vista, hacen que descanse el ojo y equilibran las páginas. Fotos de paisaje pueden incluir una captura de tu ciudad, de un lugar y hasta de un establecimiento ( donde no haya gente o haya muy poca) Lo mismo, aunque en menor medida, pasa con los bodegones o naturaleza muerta. A mí me gusta mucho incluir a mis familiares y amigos en mis páginas de PL, pero sé que más de una o dos fotos con gente ( en páginas de formato pequeño) va a quedar muy agobiante para mi gusto.
• Poner fotos en Blanco y negro es el comodín del público! Funciona muy bien con grupos de personas y hará que "mágicamente" todo coordine :D 

[En este ejemplo, podéis ver: un grupo de personas, una foto bodegón, una foto de una persona y un paisaje. El paisaje y la foto en blanco y negro a la derecha "desestresan" el conjunto. El espacio en blanco del bodegón y la tarjeta negra con una sencilla frase hacen lo mismo a la izquierda]

• Alternar primeros planos con planos más abiertos de objetos, personas, cosas... Un plato de cerca, una foto tuya de lejos, un selfie, una foto de grupo de lejos...
• Cuando selecciones las fotos para tu semana o mes de Project Life fíjate en los colores de las fotos y en si se repite alguno. Fíjate si repite algún patrón. Mira si entre ellas hay algunas que no encajan y plantéate si realmente la necesitas para contar tu historia. Si no te gusta nada la foto pero es muy importante para ti puedes hacer un bolsillo secreto y esconderla detrás o inventarte cualquier tipo de sistema ingenioso para indicarte que ahí debajo hay una cosa importante para ver. No te olvides!

[Aquí veis un primer plano de las frutas, dos fotos de cuerpo entero de frente y un plano cenital de las flores. Además, a las páginas, las acompaña un aire un tanto orgánico! :D]

• Fíjate en el espacio en blanco de tus fotos. Dónde está y qué foto va a ir al lado o debajo y/o arriba? 
• Coloca las fotos en las fundas según la orientación de lo que esté retratado en la foto. En este ejemplo lo veréis todo mejor:

[La foto del chiringuito está a la derecha porque la carpa está en la parte derecha de la foto y está enfocando hacia el centro de las páginas. Lo mismo pasa con la foto de las dos personas. Mi postura corporal (la persona de la izquierda), está a un lado mirando hacia el centro.
Además, debajo de la foto del chiringuito hay una tarjeta que tiene una gran parte blanca. Si hubiera puesto justo debajo la foto de mi amiga con los dos vasos, estéticamente parecería abarrotado. La tarjeta blanca crea un espacio hasta que más abajo están las letras.]

This month, on Project Life Café we are talking about the aesthetics in our Project Life pages.

Personally, I think it is a theme that can provide long discussions. Everybody has his/her own taste, right? 

There are some general rules about design, compsition, color theory... You can use them to make your projects look better but... there is always that exception when someone arrives, break out some rules and everything is awesome.

So then? 

I have my own opinion about what I like, what I don't like and how I think I can achive what I like. (there is always some misteries that we don't know in between but, hey, if not, where will the magic -and the fun- be?) If you like my style, maybe you can take advantage of some of the following bellow points.

When I started scrapbooking and I got totally fascinated by this art, I spent a good ( insert a loooot instead of good) amount of time looking at, analyzing, triying, asking myself questions about the aesthetics of the projects I love.

How in the world has she achieved that? What is this effect? What is color theory? What is composition?
After, really long hours analyzing, there are many more hours of practicing, practicing, practicing and practicing.  And someday you discover your own personal style!

I hope some of these points help you with your process, making it easier and why not, more fun for you! :)

We know that our photos are the main subject in our PL's and if you are not a photographer, you do not despair because there are some tricks that you can still use in order to achive a beautiful layout. Here are some of them:

• Mix portraits, grups of people, styling, landscapes, objects... in your layouts. In my opinion, people in PL pages make the layouts busier and landscapes help to soothe the eye. A landscape can be something outdoorsy, a city view, an establishment:
  Styled photos with objects can help you to calm down a busy page too. But I think landscapes are the best choice when searching for harmony.
  I love to include friends and relatives in my Project Life Pages but I know if I include more than 2, it is going to look busy. Especially, in small formats.
• Switching photos to B&W! This never fails! BFPLtrick! :D When you feel stuck in a spread try this out to make the photos coordinate with each other.

[First example: You can see a group of persons, food styling, a person and a landscape. The landscape and the B&W photo stress off the whole spread and the white space in the styled photo and the black card with the simple quote do the same for the left side.]

• Mix different perspectives in one spread: a person in the distance, a object zoomed in, a selfie...
• When you choose your photos for the week you are working on; try to see patterns in them. If there is a photo that do not fit among the rest, remember you can always make a pocket or come out with something genious to hide it. But leave yourself a note, don't forget it! :D

[Second example:  Here you see some watermelons zoom in, two photos full body from the front, zenithal perspective of some flowers and feet. Also... there is an organic kind of feeling around there... :D]

• Look for white espace in your photos. Where is it? Up? Down? On the sides?
• How is you photo oriented? Is it facing up? To the left? Place them according to its orientation. See the third example for better understanding

[Third example: The photo of the tent is on the right side because the tent is on the right and is oriented to the center of the page. The same happens with the photo with two persons in it. The person on the left (me) is on the left oriented to the center of the page. This is why I placed the photo there.
Also, note bellow the tent there is a lot of white espace given by the card bellow. If I had placed the photo with the two drinks bellow the photo of the tent it would've looked really crowded.
