Viaje a Japón | Scrapbooking on the go

Scroll down for english version.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to share how I managed to scrapbook while I was travelling around Japan. If you have a trip planned for the near future maybe, this post can help you out. :D
My first headache, to begin with, was what to carry on with me. After so many years of hoarding so many scrapbooking stuff that I love, it is difficult to narrow it down. But I did it. I did it basing it on the bare necessities:

-  Little load weight. I wanted to carry everything + the journal + the Instax mini everywhere with me.
- I wanted some stamps sets: one about travel (at last I could use it!!) one about food, one about cool words or phrases and an alpha.
- Black stamping ink + some neon ones to give some variety
-Small, easy to handle adhesive.
- 1 ink pen, 1 magic pen! 1 marker.
- 3 washi tapes (embelishment and adhesive all in one!)
- Some paper clips to add ephemera during my trip.
- Everything had to fit inside the bag that peeks out on the left side of the first photo.
- I brought some scraps of paper (not many because they fitted inside a plastic pocket in the journal ) with me as well as a few project life cards and star enamels dots. I barely used anything of these last things but the scraps of paper.
I planned to use pieces of whatever I was going to find around (brochures, flyers, magazine pages) but the scraps of paper helped a lot.

The first photo was taken on the long fight to Narita, Tokyo.
Plane tables are not big (on economic flights I suppose) but if you ever have attended a scrapbooking workshop... we know the space on the desk in minimal. So, this was the same except for the turbulences. :D
Seconds before my friend took this photo I found out my black ink was almost dead. (!!!)
Note to future self: Check out stamp inks before going on a trip with them!

(Photo 2) The real first pages about the trip were made in the Starbucks of Shibuya while we were waiting for our friends to join us.
We were there just for a while  so I didn't have much time to overthink everything as I usually do.
That disadventage was a realease of pressure for me. "Just make whatever it comes out  and keep going"

(Photo 3) The series of photos were taken in the train on our way to Takayama. I love them because while I was trying to shoot a nice photo of the moment, I captured the variety of scenes: lakes, fields, forest...
There, I also scrapbooked on the table of the seat. By far, the most difficult place to scrap on the trip. Trains are awesome in Japan but it still moved a lot. Funny though!

(Photo 4)One of our must-seen places in Kyoto was Fushimi Inari. This place was on my indispensable top list but it was a dash. There were so so so many people there that we litterally have to walk in line (mass line) all the way up to the mountain under the shrines.
I decided not to go and I walked back to the entrance. I had the zen moment I wanted scrapbooking inside a enclosure where there were some tables, seats and vending machines.

I crafted there surrounded by old guys. Loved it.

(Photo 5) That photo was taken in the living room near the reception area of the Hotel Onsen in Kurama while the typhon was striking outside the windows.
I took advantage of the moment and I asked for some scissors to the reception guy using universal language! Hilarious moment.
I was so glad to have a pair of scissors! I didn't have to rip everything... Epic! :D

( I didn't bring a pair of scissors with me because of the security in airports)
That was the last time I scrapbooked in Japan. Last time during the trip was on the flight back to Barcelona.

All the above said... If I had scrapbooked in a ship I would have checked all means of scrapbookable transports! :D

I have loved that experience. It is super funny and exiciting to document while on traveling. No doubt I will try to do it again some time in the future.

If you have any doubt about anything, I' m all ears!

Have a wonderful day.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am teaching a Christmas mini album workshop at El taller de Santa Eulàlia in Hospitalet. There are still a few seats left.
I will be sharing some sneaks as soon as I have the material.

We are already on December! Can't believe it! Christmas is around the corner! :O
Happy day!

Habit November :: Recap

Scroll down for english version.
De verdad! Que no sonó! :D

Qué he aprendido:

Qué he ganado:

Cómo lo he conseguido:

Qué he "perdido":

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*The alarm clock didn't sound.
I promise. For sure. :D
On the 17th day of my challenge, I opened one eye and I saw a ray of light on the wall (??) What time is it? I opened the second eye and I moved my arm searching for my mobile phone. I looked at it: It was silent and impassible. (??!!) The alarm was well set.

Leaving this minimal incident aside :D I woke up diligently at 7:00h every week day: some days it was easy, some others I wanted to knock my neighbour's wall like crazy because she  didn't let me sleep that night, a few days I felt like I crawl to the sofa where I meditate. But really: It hasn't been a big effort.

You can check out my goals in this post. But shortly, this is it:
-Waking up at 7:00h
-Meditate for 15 mins
-Excercise for 30 mins

I followed the secondary habits ( meditate and working out ) in a 4/5 and 3/5 ratio each. So I am quite happy.

What I've learnt:
- I can wake up earlier than I was used to. And I can go earlier to bed. I could figure the first thing out but I had some struggles thinking about the second. I was used to go to sleep around 24h since I can remember.
You only need to be a little bit organized and follow your own instructions.
- Meditate the first thing in the morning... wakes me up. I totally believed I was going to fall asleep as soon as I closed my eyes and started meditating.
It didn't happened to me.

- I am able to exercise in the morning (previously, on prior episodes... I felt dizzy)

What I've won:
- I am fully awake when I arrive at work.
- More time in the afternoon (because I do not have to go to the gym)

How I achieved it:
- I go to sleep at 22:30h. 23h the latest. I try to be at bed at 22h reading a book or watching series on my tablet.
- I do not have TV. So I limit myself to 1 or 2 episodes of my favorite series per day. (20 mins each)
- I am excited for making some exercise in the morning. Body Pump to be exact. I know, I am such a freak. But the fact of making something that I like, makes easier the whole thing.

What I've lost:
-Time at night. But here comes the great part: I am so tired and sleepy around 21.30h-22h (That used to happen before starting the Habit November) that I can't do anything that requires neurons: that includes crafting, photoshoping, editing, creating... I am just SO tired. So it is ok having this time for sleeping.

Ambitions for the next month
- Wake up at 6:00h for studying
- Meditate 15 min.
- Exercise 30 mins (at leats 3 days per week)

***
Ah! The alarm clock didn't sound because crickets tone doesn't sound in my mobile phone(!!)
What a selective machine ....(or maybe is because I dropped the cell at the karaoke night in Tokyo...)
Anyway, I have already chosen another tone for the next month's goal. :D

And you? Do you have any goal besides not spending to much in Christmas time?

Designs of the planner are by Pretty Organized.

Project Life:: Septiembre 1 y 2

scroll down for english text.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a confession to make: I haven't touched my Project Life since I came back from my holidays.
What?!
I remember leaving to Japan and start to think: "Agh!I am going to miss my PL a lot"
The only form os scrapbooking that I was making at that time (for a long time) was just Project-lifing. I was really curious what my relationship with the new travel journal was going to be like.

It happened that I was so captivated with my new relationship (or I must say affair? :D) that I didn't missed PL at all.
It is so healthy to step back and move away for some time from the things you love very much and you are so attached.  Is this what you really want to do or are you just going with the automatic without brakes?
And where you write things, you can write persons also. It fits very well.

On the first spread, RHS; you can see I tried something different. It is half a success. I don't like it aesthetically but I totally got the whole meaning (fit arm emoji) :D
LHS: There is a pocket just with a trasnparency. The photo with the ice creams belongs to a previous week that I am not sharing.

In the next week, there are two hiden secrets on the LHS: One behind the top left card where there is a tab that you can pull out and discover a note. I was given it by the friend on the side of the card. :)
The other one is bellow the pink transparency and that badge (which I kept for a especial occasion. Well, In fact, I have two of these. I hope there are more occasions like this!)
There is some private journaling under it.

The above said, I want to clarify that I am not leaving PL aside but I will start on November or right in the week I am in. October deserves his own mini or we'll see what it comes out.
No pressure no rush.
Happy day!

Viaje a Japón | Travel Journal. Parte III

Scroll down for english version.

Japan

Un abrazo

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I keep on sharing the travel journal I made during my trip to Japan. You can see part one here and part two here in case you missed them.

If you look at the images, you will notice that these pages are simpler than the ones in the previous posts. All of them were made during the flight back to Barcelona. I couldn't get any sleep at all during the 13h flight so I ended up a little tired... and crazy. I had to stop scrapbooking and do something that didn't require to think! Like playing Tetris.

You will spot several big stamps all over the journal. You could get them in touristic places like castles, temples, monuments or metro stations! This funny rabit was a stamp from Manga Museum in Kyoto.

The decorative pages you see here and there were brochures, posters, magazines, etc that I collected during the trip. For instance, the one with the big wave was the brochure of the Hokusai exposition.
The page with the Food coma sticker talks about our stay at Kurama Onsen Hotel. We are wearing these yukatas that they gave you so you can walk all over the spa.
They also served us an A-MA-ZING dinner. I think I have never seen that much food on a table... I had to look for the sentence "sorry I am full" in the dictionary like crazy while they were bringing more and more food... little food nightmare!

The last two pages are dedicated to Hiroshima and Peace Museum. It was startling and very moving. We had to try hard not to start crying in every room and display cabinet...
You could see the story of many persons, most of them children that died because of the bomb.
The Origami was given to us by a woman that was at the park nearby collecting signatures asking for a big no to nuclear weapons.

Japan an amazing country that leaves you a big deep mark and to where I hope to come back soon. Japan  大好き

I hope you enjoyed this travel journal and feel isnpired a little bit if you go on a trip and decide to scrapbook on the go!
Thank you for reading

Hugs!

Habit November

scroll down for english text.

Qué cambio voy a introducir.

-He hecho ejercicio mínimo 3 días entre semana -bien!.

Seguire informando! :D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two weeks ago, I decided joinning Caylee in this new adventure. She first, posted it on her Instagram an later on on her blog.
I happened to see her announcement at the right moment of my life.
Since I came back from Japan, I lost  direction a little bit ( quite a lot) Things that used to fit aren't fitting anymore. I just do not know what happened but something happened.

I knew I wanted to change some things but everything was messy in my head: abstract ideas, intentions, feelings...
This input arrived at the perfect moment and everything "clicked" Well, not everything haha but it was what I need.

Let's make some changes.
Let's introduce new habits that make us feel better.

What am I changing?

I started super excited with the whole thing and I wanted to make 3 changes at the same time: wake up early, meditate and excercise. The first friday of the first week I had some problems following up with everything.
Caylee, very wisely :) suggested me to just start with one thing and implement just one thing at a time.

So, the goal is waking up everyday at 7:00h
I have the futur intention of introducing in the other habits too so I am just testing with the others and seeing how they fit in my mornings.

These are the 3 things I do in my morning (weekdays):
- Waking up at 7:00h
- 15 mins of meditation. The first thing.
-30 mins of exercising.

Caylee has based part of her project in Leo Babauta's way of introducing new habits. I have also known this author since some time ago, and he was actually, the person (or his posts) who motivated me to quit coffee and milk ealier this year. But I stopped there. And here, make its appearence a Why.

Why am I doing this with a group of people?
I admit you that I wouldn't have gotten up out of bed the first day if I hadn't said that I will in the facebook group.
That's it.
I would have stayed at bed thinking that I need to sleep some more because I sleep really bad at nights. And that is true but it is also true that I can get up ealier.
You also learn from other people's approaches to their new habits and you get fire up  by the positive vibes and encouragements.

How am I doing?
- I wake up at 7:00h although having some difficulties - yay!
- I meditated 4 of 7 days. meh! I am not doing it on weekends.
-I exercised 3 days minimum. - yay!

I am considering it victory for the moment.

Waking up at 7:00h without being all grumpy?
Exercising at 7:15h at home? you crazy.
When I think about it really amazes myself!

But you know, when I am out of work and I can spend the afternoon in something else that I like or I need to do, it is the best sensation.

Ambitions.
-Waking up ealier (ealier than 7:00h) so I can exercise some more and/or study - this is another plan that I have in mind. We will see later on...
-Keep on documenting the experience so I can plan, learn of what is working and what is not working and motivate myself.

** This journal was made with Habit Journal by Caylee Grey that I bought at her shop, patterned paper, and single colored pieces of paper.
Now, I have it here to document how I am doing with the new changes.

Yay. So excited.

I let you know.

Hugs

Viaje a Japón | Travel Journal. Parte II

Scroll down for english text.
Podéis ver la parte I aquí.

Que tengáis un feliz día! ^^

Un abrazo

This is the second part of my series about the travel Journal I made during my trip to Japan. In case you missed it, you can find part I here.
I love that I took these photos and the ones in the previous post in different cities but I got to have the same background! That is beacuse we slept in traditional accomodations while we were outside Tokyo. Yay for that and yay for sunlight in my photos! I don't get to have much light on my everyday! :D

The first and the second spread talk about Tokyo. Non Bei was the name of a street. Literally: drunken people street. What a great name.
In fact, it was just a small and narrow U-shape street with tiny restaurants in a row. Maximum capacity for each of them: 5 or 6 people sitting facing the cooker. It looked like the typical place where people of the hood got to hang out after work.

Our friend ordered some food for us and it was terrific! The second time we were there we tasted sake with fubu tail! :O :D

The second spread is about Ikehabara: the electronic district. It is also the manga and gamers district. As I love manga and I have a pretty intensive past as video gamer I love that hood. We spent several days there... I also bought my Instax printer there.

This piece of floral  paper on top of the script patterned paper was part of a chopstick bag.  As the days passed by, I collected a really big pile of ephemera. I found pieces of them in every pocket and bag that I carried during the trip!

The spread with the manga drawing explain the day we spent at Takayama. This small village hold a traditional festival while we were there. I loved the small restaurants on the street, the people dressed in kimonos and the marionette show with traditional japanese music. So fun.

The last of the pages is about Kyoto and the Golden Temple. One of my favorite places in this beautiful city... Another one was the Geishas hood, but I left this story for the next part!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Have a lovely day! ^^

Hugs
